Sleeping with the enemy

I sort of stick out in this sea of pink
I always seem to get on TV. This is Tim Fasano (in the yellow shirt with camera) sitting in the room full of Lyft and Uber drivers. Did you ever feel really alone? These rideshare people are operating an illegal business that is cutting into my livelyhood, and I wanted the Hillsborough County Commission to know it. The Lyft drivers are a bunch of punks and  kids who have never worked a day in their lives. They will get whats coming to them.
How do you spell douchebags?

You will see me in the video shown on the local news.

    ....and I thought Lyft drivers were smarter than wearing stupid pink shirts, but it appears to me, they are so brainwashed, they don't even know what is going rate to transport people around Tampa Bay
    ~ $2.40/mile , $0.50 a minute waiting time and company cab
    These morons are doing exactly the same service at
    $1.35 a mile, $0.14 a minute waiting time with their own cars.........LOL
    .......and they think, they are on top of the game because Lyft said so
    What a bunch of sorry ass losers ....
    We need to educate them in some way..........and cut off the supply of new drivers for Uber and Lyft

      Their drivers are new and doing it as a lark. All them have around only a month or two. Most of the drivers that spoke, have decades invested in this. Victor Crist needs to do his jib and banish these illegals.

Joe Lopano forces Uber impact fees at Tampa International Airport which is highway robbery

I don't like being robbed at Tampa  International Airport The real reason Joseph W. Lopano let Uber and Lyft into TPA was he projected an increase in fees collected to be 5.2 million in the next two years. He seemed to view this as a revenue generating opportunity when the taxi companies were only able to come up with about 1.2 million a year. This was more than a reason to violate existing law. Joe Lopano (head of TPA) had a long range plan to soak the public and make a GIANT BONUS for himself. I wonder why he was fired in New York and flamed out in Dallas? Just wondering. The Tampa Bay Business Journal confirmed this fact the other day on their website. I knew he was corrupt and this proves it. Lopano stated that reason he let Uber and Lyft into the airport (violating the contract he had with the taxi companies) is he wanted to provide transportation alternatives to the traveling public. Hillsborough County bans Uber today as taxi company

The HCPT and Hillsborough County public commission today affirmed Uber is an illegal taxi company and bared them from operating in the Tampa area. This is wonderful news to longtime drivers like me. An Uber attorney asked Hillsborough County to make new rules to fit the trendy ridesharing movement pioneered by his company and Lyft, but was told flatly on Wednesday that Uber is an illegal taxi service. The county's Public Transportation Commission unanimously affirmed that an appointed officer had enough evidence to fine Uber, based in San Francisco, for providing hiring and public taxi services without proper licensing. Uber attorney Drew Sorrell held to the company's argument that it isn't in transportation. As a technology company, it doesn't need to follow transportation regulations as they are written. "There's a perfectly good way to do this, and that is to write the rules so that they fit," said Sorrell, of the Lowndes Drosdick Doster Kantor...

BREAKING: Uber 65¢ a mile in Tampa (how low can you go?)

Uber is screwing their Tampa drivers up the ass. They have lowered their rates 30% to 65 measly cents a mile. Drivers now get 20 bucks from downtown Tampa to St Petersburg... Big deal. Minus gas, time, insurance, maintenance, wear and tear, federal income tax, social security, workman's compensation, and you have what's left in your baby's diaper. In a word: Uber drivers are desperate. This is what one Tampa Uber driver said on the boards: "Uber is a thermometer of what this country has become. We are scavangers.... Everbody is doing this UBER CRAP because there is only one reality, THERE IS NO JOB or just FEW JOBS out there. This country can measure the desperation of its people with UBER, like the economist who measure the economics of the world by the McDonald's Big Mac, same concept"

What happened to Tommy Duncan and Sticks of Fire blog?

The image below is a 2005 TBT article I still have about the Tampa blogger scene. The big boy was Tommy Duncan. He stopped blogging around 2008, and was never seen again. Here is what Creative Loafing said about that era: "The 40-something blogger founded the most-often-cited independent Tampa Bay news blog, Sticks of Fire, in Feb. 2004, and the site, without much financial assistance from advertising, is still going strong today with a stable of more than a dozen regular contributors. This is what we should be doing in Tampa...Paris taxi drivers protest The makes no sense. We are going on another summer and the HCPTC is still negotiating and giving these Uber scum a forum. National Taxi strike called for October 26, 2014 against Uber & Lyft

Following the crowd is the opposite of the Uber Man...They want your mind...don't let them have it! There is more at stake then a ride to work. The battle for man's mind has begun. The Internet has made many things possible and reacting with incomplete information has had a debilitating effect on peoples behaviour and mental acuity. I got rear ended today

A little ding on the left side of rear bumper I stopped for an ambulance today was hit from behind by a lady that was knocked into me by another motorist. The Uber driver that hit her left the scene but we got his tag number. The cops later found him at home and he was charged with leaving the scene of an accident. Basically no damage to my car and I was soon on my way. The Crown Victoria is a pretty tough car. posted from Bloggeroid
