Paris taxi drivers cause traffic jams in protest of Uber

We should do this in Tampa jBay to show we mean business and want the mayor to stop illegal operators
IF only the French could fight their wars as bravely as they fight against markets, eh?
The latest is that several Parisian taxi drivers have beaten up someone driving an Uber limo: this is even after the French Government just passed a, quite probably illegal, law to favour the taxis over the Uber drivers:
It seems that protest turned to guerrilla warfare this morning as one Uber driver, carrying Eventbrite CTO Renaud Visage & Kat Borlongan from the airport to Paris, was attacked by multiple assailants, who allegedly, after smashing one window and slashing two tires (as seen in the photo), as well as defacing one side of the car with glue, attempted to enter the vehicle. Borlongan says their Uber driver manoeuvered the two out of the situation before anything could happen, leaving the three stranded on the shoulder of the freeway.
Here’s the background: just as in London, in Paris the taxi drivers are the only people who are allowed to pick up a ride anywhere. However, this company, Uber, has a system where you try to book your limo ride on your smartphone. This is increasingly popular as people would obviously prefer to book a cab while they’re finishing their coffee rather than stand out in the rain looking for one.

This also, naturally, pisses off the cab drivers. So, the French Government has just passed a law stating that an Uber driver cannot turn up less than 15 minutes after he has been booked. This is to make sure that people who really have to go, right now, will still use cabs.
If there’s one around of course.
But even after this the Uber driver got attacked this morning. And he did have two passengers in there at the time as well. It’s all going to be rather interesting as these new services roll out, isn’t it?

What Lyft and Uber will take from the Tampa taxi business

A lyft car at the Iconic sign on Florida ave downtown Tampa I have been a hack in Tampa Florida since 1995. Unlike the estimated 50% of Americans that hate their jobs, I have never had a day when I did not feel like going to work. Certainly, the last few years  have not been fun because the economy fell apart like a three dollar watch. However, economies are like tides and this one is on the rebound, at a snail's pace. I would like to thank Mr. Obama for that but that would not be fair. The economy is recovering despite any fiscal policy of his. That being said - there are challenges. My job is inherently difficult. We face strange and deranged people street level on a daily basis. Taxi companies in Tampa (which are regulated) must serve the general population. We have no choice. Short fares, drunk fares, people going to buy drugs (they don't tell you that) we must pick up. Don't get me wrong, there are business people, beautiful women, great trippers, and long haul...

Happy Hillary Halloween

Is there anything scarier than Hillary. Some would say Donald Trump, perhaps. My friend set this up on his porch and I thought it was pretty cool. It's not really a political statement, it's just trying to show humor. Keep in mind, that we do live in an era where people seem to have lost their sense of humor. Anyway, if he done it with Donald Trump I would have still laughed. Happy Halloween!

Tampa from behind the wheel of a taxi cab

I shot this video a couple years ago when my computer was functional. I really need to get a new one. Anyway, I hope you like this. I did put some work into it.

Getting better

The redness and swelling are going away and I can actually walk now. I just have to stay on the antibiotics and dressing the wound. I should be in rare form soon. You have no idea how bad I've felt.

This site is for corporate training but it had some of my images on it. Cool. You can find the strange link at this website

Monday morning

Business has been slow. I'm not going to beat around the bush. I need shoes and shoe strings. I am broke and struggling. I am tired, frustrated, and dealing with real anger issues. I need time off, money, and rest. I can find none of this. My entire situation sucks. I want to blame someone. What compounds all of this are drivers willing to work around the clock for scant money (that forces me to do the same). I am exhausted and wish I could get a break. I do think one is coming up. United Cab is doing all they can do but the economy has greatly increased their expenses. I do hope to have a happier post at the end if the day.

2016 is 1984

We know the laws of physics, gravity, time itself is dependent on the bearing of the observer. If once immutable laws are relative, is our past an illusion? What if everything you ever experienced was just a product of your mind?. Orwell's  posters are gas lighting tactics used by the intolerant left to make you think what you know is real is not. They want you to reject what all the great thinkers for two thousands years have agreed on. Our history is going. The posters are being removed like Buddha's in the Afghanistan desert, The weapons of conquest are not simply bullets and bombs.  Rework prejudice, and hate against once eternal standards and you have weapons more powerful than nuclear energy because they are now found only in the minds of men. The omnipotent is now man, not a natural law allowing man determination. We are moving closer to jail. The free thinkers (conservatives) are now "the cool kids." They say bad words. They are free to be afraid. Thos...

Joe Lopano forces Uber impact fees at Tampa International Airport which is highway robbery

I don't like being robbed at Tampa  International Airport The real reason Joseph W. Lopano let Uber and Lyft into TPA was he projected an increase in fees collected to be 5.2 million in the next two years. He seemed to view this as a revenue generating opportunity when the taxi companies were only able to come up with about 1.2 million a year. This was more than a reason to violate existing law. Joe Lopano (head of TPA) had a long range plan to soak the public and make a GIANT BONUS for himself. I wonder why he was fired in New York and flamed out in Dallas? Just wondering. The Tampa Bay Business Journal confirmed this fact the other day on their website. I knew he was corrupt and this proves it. Lopano stated that reason he let Uber and Lyft into the airport (violating the contract he had with the taxi companies) is he wanted to provide transportation alternatives to the traveling public. That was pure Bullshit. He simply saw how they could increase revenue long term by bilk...

Yankee spring training photo shoot

I was in downtown Tampa this afternoon and saw a photographer working with a model in a skimpy baseball uniform. It had to be for some New York publication. The Yankees are here for spring training. There had to be a connection. She did have nice legs. posted from Bloggeroid
