The Great American Solar Eclipse

Explaining to the camera what I had just witnessed I watched the solar eclipse from Clearwater, Florida today. I was home recovering from walking Pneumonia. Believe me, I am sick. I slept most of the night and morning so I had the energy to go outside. I am glad I did. We did not get a totality but it was 91% coverage. Let me tell you, that last 10% is hugh. It never did get as dark as I thought it would get but I did get a good view with a pair of welders glasses. Starting to get dark out here This event had a historical connection for me because I was able to film the total eclipse of March 7, 1970. What is sad is I can't find any films of that eclipse on YouTube. I guess its sad to think I am that old. I am sick, however. I do need to recover. The welding glasses I was using

The Little Manatee River Trail

A hiking adventure awaits Someone told me to take a hike...so I did. I took advantage of a long ride I had out of TIA that went deep US 301 near Manatee River State Park. I got $100 cash while Uber driver would have done it for $20 and given up twenty percent. I dropped my fare off at a campground 500 yards from the trail head of this cool trail. I circled around and parked at the gate. I always keep my hiking polls in the trunk, so I knew I would have good footing. This trail has a lot of roots and the polls help me a lot. I did not have my backpack, so I had no water. Unfortunately, I had no water so I would have to limit the hike to one hour. There is a primitive campsite about 3.5 miles into it. I hope to camp there in the winter but today it would just be a hike. Good aerobic exercise. Check out the photos: The boardwalk over the creek Tim Fasano on the trail

2017 will be big for this blog and the taxi industry in Tampa

Sitting at my computer at home I have been able to resolve many things in my life that will finally give me the time to make considered post to this blog. Believe me, life can really get in the way. It can come at you from many directions and you are not always prepared for that. One of the cruel ironies of life is that it will advance weather you are ready for it or not. Resolution is a good thing. And I believe I have crossed some watersheds to get to where I am at now. I have many things going on in my life but the most important was to work on my health. When you are looking at death, that does become your priority. That situation is improving, and so am I. 2017 should be an awesome year for me on many fronts. That will be great because I can honestly say I have not had an awesome year in the last 8 years. The Obama years were not great for me. Lets just leave it at that. The time and effort I have put into the workout program I am on has been well worth it. It is finally...

Uber Mass Murder has put money in my pocket

The Uber driver that went on a killing rampage has put money into my pocket. The United Cab call count has gone up big time. People are scared. They now know Uber drivers are not cleared thru law enforcement. They are dangerous and Uber drivers are arrested daily for charges ranging from sexual assult to drug dealing. People do not know who is really driving them. just because you have a photo and a cell phone number provided by an app, does not make you safe. United Cab of Tampa has never been doing better. Our drivers get $2.40 a mile plus a $2.50 drop (our surge charge). Uber drivers get 65 cents a mile. How can you make it with that rate? I am having fresh sirloin and Irish Whiskey for dinner in my new place. Uber, thanks for hiring dirt bags. I do not work for minimum wage.

The Real Tim Fasano on Blogger

After a speed workout today Go to www.realtimfasano.blogspot.com for my personal post. This blog should just be about Tampa and taxi driving. I am slowly going to move over to my personal blog. You can also go to www.timfasano.com and find it. Go to it NOW!

A weekend off

I am not working this weekend. I am tired of the 7 day a week grind that is normal for United Cab drivers. I went to a backcountry backpack site with, Nick, Rob, Kevin, and Teri. Its wonderful out here and the stars are unlike anything I have ever seen. Yes, campfire coffee on a cold morning is highbrow, even if its instant. More on the trip later posted from Bloggeroid

Resurrection from the dead

My laptop computer has been sitting in the corner for almost a year because it was dead. I just could not get it to turn on anymore. The other day, I had an idea. I plugged it in. Of course the computer would not except the change. I ended up going to bed and forgot to unplug the old unit. In the morning, all the lights were on and the unit fired up!!! Are you kidding me! I still may have some use out of this. I downloaded many of the important files and photos I wanted. I hope I can get it going again. posted from Bloggeroid

Taxi drivers live unhealthy lives

I am a 57 year old man looking for the fountain of youth. After being diagnosed with deadly high blood pressure, and the beginning of chronic heart disease, I decided to do something about it. I tried walking but in the Florida heat index of 105, all I do is cramp. Swimming reduces impact, and is refreshing. Plus, you get some sun. I am also lifting weights and trying to eat better. The reason for 2016 is to compete at USMS Nationals. I know I have a long way to go. My first workout: 1x50 warm up. 3x (4x25 free rest: 30 seconds) I took it easy and was never out of breath. Two laps were even breaststroke,! You can see the beautiful pool on Davis Island Tampa.posted from Bloggeroid Downtown Tampa from the pool.

Merry Christmas to all

Every year we take advantage of the cool air, and dry conditions, and go on a Bigfoot outing. Today, we went further birth then we usually do, and entered into different terrains.

"Taboo" at the Castle in Ybor City

There is a librarian! Taboo is one of the sexiest parties in Tampa, held at the Castle night club in Ybor City every year. I have taken many people to this event - and not just your Goth types. People who look like "normal" people, including a few librarian types are down with this event. Its not just whips and chains and latex. They have the dungeon, the naked dessert bar, rubber doll and more with people who really do live the lifestyle. The highlight is the stage show which will draw over 1,500 people into a crowded nightclub. Yes folks, there is nudity. This scene is not for everyone. This is Tampa, however, get used to it. I guess at some point the bible thumpers will try to get rid of it but it is still going strong every year. If your lucky, you may even see the famous "hard on man" who is regular customer at the bar. I have heard about this guy from many fares in my taxi and have found his photo on the internet. I guess everyone has to have their own b...

Clothing optional Eden apartments in Tampa Bay

I saw this article on Ybor City Stogie from 2008 about an apartment building near Westchase going clothing optional. I am very much aware of the nudist resorts and naturalist palces in the Tampa Bay area, and Pasco county. I don't believe I have heard of this place. Perhaps it never got off the ground. What is interesting is the article on Stogie is still one of his highest rated pages. With a photo like this, I wonder why!/>
