Tampa Taxi Shots on ABC Action News

I had fun working with Nicole of ABC Action News Tampa I was interviewed by Nicole of Tampa Bay 28 Action News today at Tampa International airport. It was about the suspicious package found the other day. I took her to the staging deck where the cabs are located ready to be called down to pick up a fare. This is where I was located when I went to use the men's room, and found the package. She shot lots of B roll to chop up and use in the news story tonight. In the old days, she would have had a camera person with her but I guess tv news operates on a tight budget today like everyone. I was impressed by her professionalism and commitment to get the story accurate. She had contacted the people in charge at the airport, for their side of the story and was going to interview them as well. It seems it was just discarded luggage. That should not make anyone feel any better about all of this. The ability to report suspicious behavior is not in place. 911 seems to be your best op...

Uber Protest in Tallahassee

It was Transportation Day in the state capital today. Many of the owners of Tampa Bay area cab companies were present. Louie Minardi of Yellow Cab and the head of the Hillsborough County Limo association held a press conference before the event started. The lady that owns Bats Taxi was also here. They spoke well but did not take it far enough. here are all the cab company owners. What I learned today is Uber will never comply with the stupid Florida legislature. It is not their business model. Show me where they have complied anywhere on Earth. It was sad that these owners were not demanding the outlaw Uber be shut down by aggressive law enforcement. You would have to be brain dead to think Uber will do anything other than what they are doing. Me on the capital steps. I am very tired but will have a lot to say about this crooked legislature. I went into Governor Scott's office. He was not much help. He thinks it all part of the free markets. posted from Bloggero...

Richard's wreck that was shown around the world

Poor Richard. He had pretty much run his course as a long time cab driver. He was just trying to hold on through bad health until he could retire. That was not to be.  It's bad enough to get into a bad crash and lose your gig, then go home and see it all over FOX, CNN, MSNBC is just a kick in the nuts. Even Jim Rome and Steven Colbert were talking about the viral video of the composed newscaster that did not flinch when the accident happened. It turned out for the best for Richard. He is drawing his social security and does not miss the cab business in any way.

I was on a radio show

I was on the "Squatch Detective" radio show last night. Steve Kills is the host and the one that blew the lid on the 2008 Bigfoot in the freezer hoax. Steve wanted me in the show because my fame and reputation is spreading. I do more work then the FINDING BIGFOOT show in Animal Planet and I've found more evidence. I will put up the show on this blog when Steve releases the archives. posted from Bloggeroid

The Joe Show

At the Bigfoot convention in Orlando, I got to meet a really cool dude from Boston named Joe Mastroianni. He host what is called "The Joe Show" and it is mostly about Bigfoot. He is a DJ who I believe once worked with Howard Stern. His shows are slick, upbeat, and mostly funny and entertaining. I hope to be a quest soon. Here is an example: The Joe Show

Hillsborough County Public Transportation hearing on Lyft & Uber

Victor Crist the county commisioner and head of HCPTC I got a call from Rob Searcy yesterday. He wanted me to attend the Hillsborough County board hearing about letting ride-sharing companies such as Lyft and Uber coming into the area. They are already here. What I found amusing was that they were discussing the issue at all. let me explain. Rob Searcy defending our position I got my hair cut yesterday and could not help but notice the number of permits and licenses the barber had on his mirror. I guess that goes for any business. Could I set up a booze cart in front of a bar and sell liquor for half the bars price without a license? NO! There is no business in which you can do that. So, why is Hillsborough county even considering such a thing as illegal taxi services. All businesses have regulations based on the local, state, and federal laws. There people, however, think they are above the law. You could sense their arrogance. What I hear is that Victor Crist is leaving them...

Tim Fasano on local late night tv

Enough Uber stuff and back to blogging. A couple years ago I was a guest on a local late night tv show. The lighting was what I expected from such a show and it set the atmosphere for the topic which was Bigfoot in Florida. This was George the host of EA TV. He was a creepy guy and perfect for a host. The BFRO has been putting posters up in the Green Swamp because they believe they are there. I actually have a short clip of a Bigfoot I shot that has been verified. posted from Bloggeroid

The economics of cab driving in Tampa Bay

Taxi Drivers in the holding area at Tampa International Airport The  St. Petersburg Times  ran an article about the state of taxi cab companies and drivers in Hillsborough County. They quoted me (Tim Fasano) in the article because of this blog. I believe the article hit hard on some very real aspects of the current state of cab driving.  Jack Nicas went all over Tampa talking with taxi drivers and cab company owners. He went to the holding area at the airport, the major hotels downtown, the club party areas on the weekends and he saw first hand what goes on in our work. This is what he saw at Tampa International Airport. "For hours under the sun in a lot near Tampa International Airport, a harsh course in economics plays out. Dozens of taxicabs snake into a queue. Men shout and engines start. The line barely budges. Rene Jeune is up front now, having waited two hours for one customer. Farther back, Jean Bourdeau watches birds fight. He has just $25 in his pock...

Taxi Slaves - a documentary

Eric Martin of Chicago is currently producing a documentary film about the abuse and exploitation that exist in the Chicago taxi industry and believes this is endemic across the United. States. He hopes his efforts lead to reform at the legal and political level. I am at risk of my job by commenting further on this matter. I don't want to shit where I eat. However, I support all forms of free speech, and believe documentaries can be very effective (Edward R. Murrow HARVEST OF SHAME about exploitation of migrant farm workers lead to Bobby Kennedy's involvement) . As you know, the RNC. will be here next week. Not too many sympathetic ears in that group.
