Over the years I have moved on from just being a taxi driver. Since the taxi business in Tampa is on the rebound, and I am having the best summer I have had since 2008, I have come up with a new blog theme. I driver taxi, take photos, hike, camp, and have many hobbies. This new blog is about me, and who I am. I feel much happier on this blog. Please check it out. at Tim In Tampa

What happened to Tommy Duncan and Sticks of Fire blog?

The image below is a 2005 TBT article I still have about the Tampa blogger scene. The big boy was Tommy Duncan. He stopped blogging around 2008, and was never seen again. Here is what Creative Loafing said about that era: "The 40-something blogger founded the most-often-cited independent Tampa Bay news blog, Sticks of Fire, in Feb. 2004, and the site, without much financial assistance from advertising, is still going strong today with a stable of more than a dozen regular contributors. In 2005, Duncan was featured in a tbt* story about the young lions of the local Internet. Today, about half of them have fallen by the wayside or (in the case of famous sexy blogger Rachel Moran) moved to New Jersey. Duncan keeps on posting. Las Vegas Taxi Shots

My new blog about Vegas taxi There is a rule of the jungle "adapt or perish." I try to live by that in how I approach taxi driving. Dynamics change and you must be attuned to that and work in different ways. Uber presents something, however, that I can't adjust to. They have taken just too much from us. I don't know if I want to continue living in Tampa now. In the service industry, you can only make real money four months out of the year. The good news is today is the beginning of that four month run. The airport will be my only hope. I don't have it in me to keep going on after that, especially in the face of Uber. Ivy Farms pool part of history

I found this article on the Daily Press website. It will mean nothing to anyone but it means a lot to me. This article wad written in 1993 when the possibility of closing Ivy Farms pool was real. I hear in 2010 it was demolished by the city. Just another nail in my coffin. I always wanted to get up there and swim one more lap. A Singapore Cabby and the future of the taxi industry

Lim James on the left and blogger Genti on right Lim James, the Diary of a Singapore Cabby blog was recently let go by the largest taxi company in Indonesia. It seems out of the 50,000 customers he has picked up over the years, one of them put in an exaggerated complaint. His blog is very successful worldwide and he has a large readership. He let his fans know what happened on his blog but first lamenting how he is getting older (he is 67) and how life is an injustice we never asked for, but must face on our own terms. Joe Lopano forces Uber impact fees at Tampa International Airport which is highway robbery

I don't like being robbed at Tampa  International Airport The real reason Joseph W. Lopano let Uber and Lyft into TPA was he projected an increase in fees collected to be 5.2 million in the next two years. He seemed to view this as a revenue generating opportunity when the taxi companies were only able to come up with about 1.2 million a year. This was more than a reason to violate existing law. Joe Lopano (head of TPA) had a long range plan to soak the public and make a GIANT BONUS for himself. I wonder why he was fired in New York and flamed out in Dallas? Just wondering. The Tampa Bay Business Journal confirmed this fact the other day on their website. I knew he was corrupt and this proves it. Lopano stated that reason he let Uber and Lyft into the airport (violating the contract he had with the taxi companies) is he wanted to provide transportation alternatives to the traveling public. Cigar City Cabbie

Go to www.timfasano.com I heard United Cab was going to sue Uber and the HCPTC. I heard the drivers were going to sue Uber, Tampa Airport, HCPTC and others. Frankly, I am tired of hearing all this shit. Nobody really gives a fuck about this massive gypsy cab company. My only hope may be Donald Trump. I read that there are now over 1 million Uber drivers nationwide. That is an enormous figure. I think the only reason these people get this gig is because there are no jobs in the country that are worth a shit. I think what most of these drivers want is a good job with benefits. Perhaps, if that stuff was out there, the number of dumb shits doing the Uber gig would go way down. I know the ad says "get your side-hustle on." There is no hustle to what they do. Hustle is what I do on a daily basis to make my money. I have to ad lib the entire day and make opportunities happen. Sorry Uber scum...waiting for a ping is not a "hustle." Tampa Taxi Shots and the future

Tim Fasano publisher of Tampa Taxi Shots I started this blog last year because I was bored. My original Tampa Taxi Shots was gone. I still had many of the images and the stories were still in my head. However, my ten year old laptop took a shit. Since then, I have been going to the library, but mostly loading with an android phone. That is a piss poor way of doing it. But its all I got. Today was the first time since 2007 that I did not owe United Cab money. I paid off the balance today, and actually got money back!!! At this pace, I should be able to buy a new laptop soon and be able to do some serious writing from the comfort of my home, instead of trying to write in a crowded computer lab with the guy in the green shirt (the same shirt he has had on for weeks) sitting across from you and chewing his tongue,  while making funny noises. The traffic on this site is growing and I know if I put myself 100% into it, I can make it big. July 4th is a good benchmark, and time to ...

Happy Hillary Halloween

Is there anything scarier than Hillary. Some would say Donald Trump, perhaps. My friend set this up on his porch and I thought it was pretty cool. It's not really a political statement, it's just trying to show humor. Keep in mind, that we do live in an era where people seem to have lost their sense of humor. Bay and Beach taxi van service

Working hard to secure Tampa airport,cruise and hotel service, it seems now Bay and Beach taxi are now using vans with horse trailers (you can see the trailer behind the van). They can move more people and luggage with those. The picture here was taken at the airport and a ton of people got off. Nancy has modern ideas about customer service , and how to run a fleet.
