Camping at Hillsborough River State Park

Its been a while for this blog but this should be working now. We recently went to Hillsborough River State Park for a camp out. George was the first one to get there and we had to wait for Teri and Kevin, for they were at work and would arrive before sunset (the best time).

This was one of the first hot nights of the year. As you know, we are much more active in the fall/winter time of the year. We had plenty of firewood that would be used for cooking. There was no need to stay warm for it was around 90 when the sunset. I got a chance to use George’s ax and chop wood which was not as easy as it looks. You can work up a good sweet doing that.

The end result of all of this was a nice hot fire on a hot day. We did cook a whole bunch of stuff on it. Too bad it was for only one night. I really hate it when people have to pack in a huff because they have to go to work the next day. But you got to do work first.

Angel The Rescued Kitten

I have a new and wonderful friend. Her name is Angel. George found her on his way home at 3 in the morning running around on the elevated span of highway 19 in Clearwater. He pulled over and pulled out of a storm drain. He took her home and knocked on my door. He has two cats and wanted me to keep her overnight until he could find a neighbor to take her. I fell in love with her. She is now my best friend and keeps me company for I live alone. It's not fair that so much cuteness can be crammed into such a little thing.

RETIRED..what did you expect?

I have retired from taxi driving for good. I turned the keys in and walked away from 24 years on the streets. In a way, like Ronald Reagan said, the taxi business walked away from me. Anyway, I am home and doing nothing but getting caught up on a bunch of personal stuff. I am loving it. Check out this video about how I spend most mornings now. I have applied to work for Lyft and was approved, of course. I should be getting a new car next week and will be driving for them. Ride share has become the new taxi companies and they deliver what I am looking for. I have two monthly checks coming in which are enough to live off of. So don't worry about me. Its just that I was not exactly ready to retire but the circumstances gave me no choice. It does feel good, by the way.

What happened to Tommy Duncan and Sticks of Fire blog?

The image below is a 2005 TBT article I still have about the Tampa blogger scene. The big boy was Tommy Duncan. He stopped blogging around 2008, and was never seen again. Here is what Creative Loafing said about that era: "The 40-something blogger founded the most-often-cited independent Tampa Bay news blog, Sticks of Fire, in Feb. 2004, and the site, without much financial assistance from advertising, is still going strong today with a stable of more than a dozen regular contributors. In 2005, Duncan was featured in a tbt* story about the young lions of the local Internet. Today, about half of them have fallen by the wayside or (in the case of famous sexy blogger Rachel Moran) moved to New Jersey. Duncan keeps on posting. The local digital scene has grown, but he's not sure it has improved in quality."

Where's Tim?

I have been in the woods camping with friends. We had no idea last weekend would be the hottest Halloween on record in Florida. This fire is beautiful but it only made things hotter. I have also been swimming. Now, the pool is extending its hours and I will be able to work out six days a week. Riley Bullough - the new Buc standout

Riley Bullough the new Buc standout When Riley Bullough came into Tampa Bay Buccaneer training camp, he was a long shot to make the team. However, something happened along the way for this camp body - that would be "Hard Knocks" of HBO. The Michigan State linebacker was immediately recognized as a personable good looking guy with hustle and heart. We also found out he is a singer songwriter with talent. In the first episode of Hard Knocks he stole the show. That was not supposed to happen for someone nobody had heard of. He latter went on to make some monster tackles in the expedition game against Cincinnati. I can't imagine this guy being cut. He has been branded "Joe Dirt" and the potential for merchandise sales and publicity is high. I can imagine Bullough making a tackle on a national FOX game and hearing Joe Buck saying "Joe Dirt with an impressive tackle." They even Twitter about it One of the things naive women have expressed is how "safe" they feel with unveted, unlicensed, non-criminally background compliant, Uber Drivers. Word is spreading. Sexual predators are now driving Uber to come into close proximity with beautiful women. Drunk beautiful women. They make easy marks.
