What happens when 9,000 people from Ohio State want cabs at the same time because they need to get to the Buckeye cruise? Meltdown. There were no car rentals available at TIA and our starter was gone. The airport director was out trying to organize the plaintiff hoards.
For drivers, this was awesome. Its good to have people approaching your cab like a third world flash mob. This beats the help out of sitting around in the scorching heat of July, with nothing to do. Lets hope this keeps up.
Too bad you couldn't charge per head instead of 4 people the same as one. Larry 157
ReplyDeleteThere will be three cruise ships in Sunday. Remember the old days going to Sarasota? Just goofing on ya.
DeleteIt is now $25 flat rate to downtown and most people give you $30.
ReplyDeleteI usually work the Asheville Regional Airport but during tourist season (March through November) there are festivals and conventions and such, many nights it's worthwhile to cruise downtown after the airport is done. There are so many flaggers, Asheville actually has "gypsy cabs". When Widespread Panic came to town they played 2 nights and it was awesome, worked till 5AM ferrying people from the Civic Center to their hotels and homes, each time I returned to the venue I was frickin mobbed...
