Victor Crist is a political coward

He is a huge Uber supporter and leaves the taxi companies to twist. 
Victor Crist is a political coward. After an un-distinguished tenure in the Florida Legislature, he is out to save his current job while former political enemies attempt to shut the HCPTC down. I attended the transportation meeting the other day and found it to be a rigged deck. The commission is charged with regulating all for hire vehicles in the Hillsborough County. They distribute medallions and make sure cars are in running order and proper insurance has been issued for cars. They are also charged with shutting the gypsy cabs down. Now, a giant gypsy cab operation has hit Tampa and they don't have any way to deal with it.

Uber has taken all of our cash business. They are a gypsy cab company. Crist admitted he must now placate certain politicians, or his board with be shut down. So be it. The cab companies may soon shut down because Crist took the cowardly way out and now refuses to do his job. They only job he is charged with. I asked him point blank from the podium about why he still requires me to pay outrageous fees to keep my hack license current. He could not answer that. His commission will never get another dime from me. You can count on that.

    Truth be told...They do not issue medallions in Hillsborough County for the taxi cabs..and Uber is not a cab company..there are
    no meters in Uber vehicles!....and you have been a cab driver for how long?..Speak the truth!

      Being ignorant is no excuse.since a value was market established,who cares what they are called.as for the taximeter comment;follow the improvement and innovation in calculating fares.what is the difference of an atomic clock or a watch,they both tell time but have no mechanical similarities.

    I hope this prick gets run over by an Uber car between calls and ends up in a shitty ALF because the driver didn't have commercial insurance. How much money did it take to buy off these politicians???

Pam Callahan Nature Preserve

I took a hike today in Pam Callahan Memorial Park and enjoyed this cool air. She was an environmental advocate who fought to protect this nature preserve from development. If you have a couple hours you can have a relaxing hike, and explore the new loop trail. What's cool is you will never know you are so close to civilization. I had fun.

Las Vegas Taxi Shots

My new blog about Vegas taxi There is a rule of the jungle "adapt or perish." I try to live by that in how I approach taxi driving. Dynamics change and you must be attuned to that and work in different ways. Uber presents something, however, that I can't adjust to. They have taken just too much from us. I don't know if I want to continue living in Tampa now. In the service industry, you can only make real money four months out of the year. The good news is today is the beginning of that four month run. The airport will be my only hope. I don't have it in me to keep going on after that, especially in the face of Uber. Monday morning

Business has been slow. I'm not going to beat around the bush. I need shoes and shoe strings. I am broke and struggling. I am tired, frustrated, and dealing with real anger issues. I need time off, money, and rest. I can find none of this. My entire situation sucks. I want to blame someone. What compounds all of this are drivers willing to work around the clock for scant money (that forces me to do the same). I am exhausted and wish I could get a break. I do think one is coming up. United Cab is doing all they can do but the economy has greatly increased their expenses. I do hope to have a happier post at the end if the day.

Saturday night in Tampa

I thought I was a dirty old man. "The Senator' takes the cake because he is real (friend of the taxi man), 58 years old, and gets massive ass. He is a legend at the Castle in Ybor City, and in Tampa pop culture. Pop for his hard-on he sports in the clubs. I was going to say it takes balls to do what he does, but balls it is. Kendrick Meek defied Bill Clinton in Florida senate race

Bill Clinton wanted Kendrick Meeks (D) Miami, to drop out of the Florida Senate race against Marco Rubio. Rubio is an extremist who had senator Mike Fasano (R) New Port Richey, kicked out of the Republican party because he supported Charlie Crist. I met with Meeks in Tampa (I ran for congress in 2008..look it up) and urged him to defy Bill Clinton and stay in the race. Independent polling showed the race getting tight. Crist screwed Meeks by running as an independent and now we are stuck with Rubio.
