He is a huge Uber supporter and leaves the taxi companies to twist. 
Victor Crist is a political coward. After an un-distinguished tenure in the Florida Legislature, he is out to save his current job while former political enemies attempt to shut the HCPTC down. I attended the transportation meeting the other day and found it to be a rigged deck. The commission is charged with regulating all for hire vehicles in the Hillsborough County. They distribute medallions and make sure cars are in running order and proper insurance has been issued for cars. They are also charged with shutting the gypsy cabs down. Now, a giant gypsy cab operation has hit Tampa and they don't have any way to deal with it.

Uber has taken all of our cash business. They are a gypsy cab company. Crist admitted he must now placate certain politicians, or his board with be shut down. So be it. The cab companies may soon shut down because Crist took the cowardly way out and now refuses to do his job. They only job he is charged with. I asked him point blank from the podium about why he still requires me to pay outrageous fees to keep my hack license current. He could not answer that. His commission will never get another dime from me. You can count on that.

    Truth be told...They do not issue medallions in Hillsborough County for the taxi cabs..and Uber is not a cab company..there are
    no meters in Uber vehicles!....and you have been a cab driver for how long?..Speak the truth!

      Being ignorant is no excuse.since a value was market established,who cares what they are called.as for the taximeter comment;follow the improvement and innovation in calculating fares.what is the difference of an atomic clock or a watch,they both tell time but have no mechanical similarities.

    I hope this prick gets run over by an Uber car between calls and ends up in a shitty ALF because the driver didn't have commercial insurance. How much money did it take to buy off these politicians???

Dana Young is a Liar or very confused about Uber

A very bad person with no honor or integrity I attended a meeting at the hockey arena downtown which was attended by all the Tampa Bay area state senators and representatives. In attendance was one Dana Young (R). When it was her time to speak, so told a story about a young women that was being raped. The Taxi Truman Show

I may have found the escape hatch Regulated Taxi driving is now dead. Uber has taken over. The current situation is no longer tenable for drivers who face an old model of cab leasing, and can no longer continue paying a Pre-Uber lease. Today was the tipping point. This time of year we should be very busy...EXTREMLY BUSY. We are not. It is dead as a doornail with drivers at the airport waiting up to 5 hours to a ride. It should be off the hook. It is for Uber. They pay no fee to the airport, yet they are allowed to operate. I made a good living for years. Transportation was regulated in Hillsborough County. Sukka the cat

There is a lady I pick up every morning that puts $100 in my pocket (paid by our great accounts). Her cat comes out and loves me and rubs up on me every morning. Uber has nothing like this. United Cab driver's are rocking out while Uber punks live for nine dollar fares that they have to give 20% to Ubet. Great gig guys. LOL! Police said Uber drivers real job was selling drugs

If you were a drug dealer, having another job that pays you to drive around town would probably complement your endeavor. Yeah? Glendale police this week say 23-year-old Artak Avakian is an Uber driver who "used the position as a cover to sell drugs," according to a statement. Cops arrested Avakian at 4 p.m. on Tuesday after receiving a tip that he's a "suspected drug dealer," they said.  The dumb shit circuit judge in Florida that ruled against background checks for Uber drivers said there was no evidence to show cabs were safer. RETIRED..what did you expect?

I have retired from taxi driving for good. I turned the keys in and walked away from 24 years on the streets. In a way, like Ronald Reagan said, the taxi business walked away from me. Anyway, I am home and doing nothing but getting caught up on a bunch of personal stuff. I am loving it. Check out this video about how I spend most mornings now. I have applied to work for Lyft and was approved, of course. I should be getting a new car next week and will be driving for them. Ride share has become the new taxi companies and they deliver what I am looking for. I have two monthly checks coming in which are enough to live off of. So don't worry about me. Its just that I was not exactly ready to retire but the circumstances gave me no choice. It does feel good, by the way.

Be cautious of flaggers

Always use caution when picking up flaggers All taxi drivers need to be cautious of flaggers. When you see a stranger on the sidewalk, make sure you go by your gut before you let the person in your taxi. Who knows what may await you if you don't go by the "gut." Don't be tempted by a pretty lady. You may be surprised. Just to be fair about the matter...its not raining!!
