Victor Crist is a political coward

He is a huge Uber supporter and leaves the taxi companies to twist. 
Victor Crist is a political coward. After an un-distinguished tenure in the Florida Legislature, he is out to save his current job while former political enemies attempt to shut the HCPTC down. I attended the transportation meeting the other day and found it to be a rigged deck. The commission is charged with regulating all for hire vehicles in the Hillsborough County. They distribute medallions and make sure cars are in running order and proper insurance has been issued for cars. They are also charged with shutting the gypsy cabs down. Now, a giant gypsy cab operation has hit Tampa and they don't have any way to deal with it.

Uber has taken all of our cash business. They are a gypsy cab company. Crist admitted he must now placate certain politicians, or his board with be shut down. So be it. The cab companies may soon shut down because Crist took the cowardly way out and now refuses to do his job. They only job he is charged with. I asked him point blank from the podium about why he still requires me to pay outrageous fees to keep my hack license current. He could not answer that. His commission will never get another dime from me. You can count on that.

    Truth be told...They do not issue medallions in Hillsborough County for the taxi cabs..and Uber is not a cab company..there are
    no meters in Uber vehicles!....and you have been a cab driver for how long?..Speak the truth!

      Being ignorant is no excuse.since a value was market established,who cares what they are called.as for the taximeter comment;follow the improvement and innovation in calculating fares.what is the difference of an atomic clock or a watch,they both tell time but have no mechanical similarities.

    I hope this prick gets run over by an Uber car between calls and ends up in a shitty ALF because the driver didn't have commercial insurance. How much money did it take to buy off these politicians???

It's not really a political statement, it's just trying to show humor. Keep in mind, that we do live in an era where people seem to have lost their sense of humor. Las Vegas Taxi Shots

My new blog about Vegas taxi There is a rule of the jungle "adapt or perish." I try to live by that in how I approach taxi driving. Dynamics change and you must be attuned to that and work in different ways. Uber presents something, however, that I can't adjust to. They have taken just too much from us. I don't know if I want to continue living in Tampa now. In the service industry, you can only make real money four months out of the year. The good news is today is the beginning of that four month run. The airport will be my only hope. I don't have it in me to keep going on after that, especially in the face of Uber. Joe Lopano forces Uber impact fees at Tampa International Airport which is highway robbery

I don't like being robbed at Tampa  International Airport The real reason Joseph W. Lopano let Uber and Lyft into TPA was he projected an increase in fees collected to be 5.2 million in the next two years. He seemed to view this as a revenue generating opportunity when the taxi companies were only able to come up with about 1.2 million a year. This was more than a reason to violate existing law. Joe Lopano (head of TPA) had a long range plan to soak the public and make a GIANT BONUS for himself. I wonder why he was fired in New York and flamed out in Dallas? Just wondering. The Tampa Bay Business Journal confirmed this fact the other day on their website. I knew he was corrupt and this proves it. David Bradford New York taxi photography

David Bradford isn't your average New York City taxi driver. His days "at the office" are directed by the skill that sets him apart from other taxi drivers: he's a photographer. Bradford's canvas is New York City as he sees it throughout his day, from a behind-the-steering-wheel vantage point. He has published several books, most notably "Drive-By Shootings: Photographs by a New York City Taxi Driver," and he was recently the subject of a New York Moment video, featured above. Bradford started out as a visual artist with an emphasis on drawing from photographs and a degree from Rhode Island School of Design in illustration. When he moved to NYC after graduating college, he began photographing NYC, originally as fodder for his drawings. But Bradford soon discovered that his photographs stood as pieces on their own and began pursuing the art form.

The Taxi Truman Show

I may have found the escape hatch Regulated Taxi driving is now dead. Uber has taken over. The current situation is no longer tenable for drivers who face an old model of cab leasing, and can no longer continue paying a Pre-Uber lease. Today was the tipping point. This time of year we should be very busy...EXTREMLY BUSY. We are not. It is dead as a doornail with drivers at the airport waiting up to 5 hours to a ride. It should be off the hook. It is for Uber.
