The Meters Running blog

I am entering a new phase of my life. The economy is getting better and things are finally beginning to improve. I should soon have a new computer, and finally get back to serious posting.  Viewers from years ago expected it. Time is marching on; Tim is marching on... hence the metaphor of the taxi meter running.

I started blogging in 2005 during the heady days of the Tampa blog scene explosion. It was new and fun and I could not wait to get home and blog about the daily trips I had. Something changed along the way, however. The United States economy fell apart like a three dollar watch, killing hope and breaking the spirit of many. Most of the local bloggers just went away. Their dormant blogs left abandoned years ago, a testament to a vital community killed off by fast change and greed. Many Tampa blogs  still show the last post from way back.

During this time, FaceBook was taking off and it seems to be where most people are at. The blogging scene just a faded memory for me. However, I still believe a blog can succeed. A blog can still get noticed. I believe in blogging but you just have to find your way and have a message.

For a blog to succeed today, it must really have unique content that people can't find anywhere. It must also give them a reason to disconnect form FaceBook, and actually go somewhere else on the Internet where they may get back some hope. Not the hope and change promised by a failed administration, but the hope and spirit they felt when love was young. When you felt things would last forever, like a kid during summer when there's a bit of a buzz but only back then you did int know what is was.

I have a story to tell and I need to get to work. I am getting older along the way. "Daily thoughts and inspirations from a Tampa taxi driver on the back half of life" is more important to me now then just stories about drunks who puked in my cab.

In the coming years there will be changes. I may get out of cab driving. My interest may change. My hobbies may change. I may no longer live in Tampa. One thing will never change - the meter will always be running.

Happy Hillary Halloween

Is there anything scarier than Hillary. Some would say Donald Trump, perhaps. My friend set this up on his porch and I thought it was pretty cool. It's not really a political statement, it's just trying to show humor. Keep in mind, that we do live in an era where people seem to have lost their sense of humor. Anyway, if he done it with Donald Trump I would have still laughed. Happy Halloween!

Gabriel

Elena wanted me to post photos from Gabriel's first birthday party. Sorry I did not take more images but my phone went dead. Here is a stressed out hippy mama. You got to admit, Gabriel is a handsome young man. posted from Bloggeroid

BREAKING: HILLARY COLLAPSES IN NYC, STRUGGLES TO WALK, LOSES SHOE, RUSHE...

And you thought I was full of shit. Hillary is dying and needs to go to hospice and let the Presidency go to a more fit person. The lies are beyond belief. You liberals would vote for her if she was dead on election night and in a coffin. Alvin Toffler was right.

Yankee spring training photo shoot

I was in downtown Tampa this afternoon and saw a photographer working with a model in a skimpy baseball uniform. It had to be for some New York publication. The Yankees are here for spring training. There had to be a connection. She did have nice legs. posted from Bloggeroid

Pam Callahan Nature Preserve

I took a hike today in Pam Callahan Memorial Park and enjoyed this cool air. She was an environmental advocate who fought to protect this nature preserve from development. If you have a couple hours you can have a relaxing hike, and explore the new loop trail. What's cool is you will never know you are so close to civilization. I had fun.

The political decision process on Uber

Today at the hockey arena in downtown Tampa, all of the local Tampa Bay state representatives and senators gathered  for the transportation hearing. What was first and foremost on the agenda was the subject of uber and its relationship to the Tampa Bay community. Both sides offered their reasons many of them anecdotal in nature. (Senator Jeff Brandes from St Petersburg, the one Center in the picture, came across as an arrogant asshole. He was rude and belligerent and combative with all speakers. This is an example of someone who bullied his way into a political position, no doubt. Sorry for the sidebar). State senator Arthenia Joyner was the best of the lot. She asked the most pointed questions and dug deep into the real issues. She pointed out to the room that seemed surprised to find out that all of the fees that apply to the cab companies by regulation uber has none of that. There are insurance requirements, licenses and fees, and fees associated with the airport authorit...

From back in the day

Some random shots of friends, camping, and a downtown Tampa cemetery. Lots of photos of good times. Tampa Taxi Shots is shooting. posted from Bloggeroid

Tampa from behind the wheel of a taxi cab

I shot this video a couple years ago when my computer was functional. I really need to get a new one. Anyway, I hope you like this. I did put some work into it.

The Taxi Driver who found Bigfoot (Documentary Film)

It seems that I may have been the only person in recent years that has actually found Bigfoot. I am a cab driver and this short documentary is about what I go thru and what I have been doing long before the Animal Planet "Finding Bigfoot" was on TV. They consider me a maverick but screw 'em.

The REDSKINS are in town

The Washington REDSKINS!!! Just arrived at Tampa stadium. The buses just went into the tunnel and the police are blocking off the roads. I hate that. The taxi area is on the left of screen but I'm going home. 7:30 kickoff. I was wondering if RG3 knew he was just 200 feet from the worlds greatest BF hunter..LOL! posted from Bloggeroid
