Watching Uber pick up our fares

Night drivers of taxi cabs have no choice but to sit and watch Uber pick up in Hyde Park. Uber driver has more rights than taxi driver. This is not right.

Taxi divers must pay for their hack license and follow all rules and regulations. We contract through heavely regulated companies that must comply with HCPTC and meet insurance regulations. Uber does none of that.

We can't pick up on Howard ave while Uber does. We can't pull into the terminal at the airport, Uber does. They just do whatever they want, and mayor Bob Buckhorn supports them. How strange a democrat would support an enterprise that was as legal as a speak easy while letting our industry (and the poor in Tampa) suffer.

It is becoming obvious to any observer that we have lost over half our business. Did you know my company recently raised our leases to $100 a day and I have to by the gas. That is a nut that is hard to reach, much less, make any money for myself. I hear there is a waiting list to be a driver. That is only because of the Logistcare charges.

We have become a medical transport company. There are a ton of these charges and they are keeping me alive. Right now, its the goose that laid the golden egg. Without it, we would be in a world of shit. It would be like the NFL losing beer advertising. It would be a mortal blow.

I am saving money for my Vegas move. I do have one foot out the door. I just want to ride this pony a little more and see what happens. I can make my exit on my terms.

What happened to Tommy Duncan and Sticks of Fire blog?

The image below is a 2005 TBT article I still have about the Tampa blogger scene. The big boy was Tommy Duncan. He stopped blogging around 2008, and was never seen again. Here is what Creative Loafing said about that era: "The 40-something blogger founded the most-often-cited independent Tampa Bay news blog, Sticks of Fire, in Feb. 2004, and the site, without much financial assistance from advertising, is still going strong today with a stable of more than a dozen regular contributors. My game against chess master Tom Stroup

Play online chess The game is still in progress but I am playing him even. Tom is rated in the top 2% of all players, so I am happy for such a result so far. He has analyzed the remaining moves and sees this as a possible draw. Don't worry, I can still screw this up. I used the "Donald Trump" opening on him. I was on a radio show

I was on the "Squatch Detective" radio show last night. Steve Kills is the host and the one that blew the lid on the 2008 Bigfoot in the freezer hoax. Steve wanted me in the show because my fame and reputation is spreading. I do more work then the FINDING BIGFOOT show in Animal Planet and I've found more evidence. Slain cab driver worked the hood

Working the hood at night is not good for a cab driver. There is a preponderance of short fares, now shows, laundry, no shows, runners, and angry people, to make it unprofitable, and annoying to the driver. You could work it all night, and not make a dime and be treated like shit the whole time. Was it worth it for Mr. Dooley to work the hood? It sucks that with so little street business, and a flood of third world drivers, forces guys pulling s hack to take risk.

Joe Lopano forces Uber impact fees at Tampa International Airport which is highway robbery

I don't like being robbed at Tampa International Airport The real reason Joseph W. Lopano let Uber and Lyft into TPA was he projected an increase in fees collected to be 5.2 million in the next two years. He seemed to view this as a revenue generating opportunity when the taxi companies were only able to come up with about 1.2 million a year. This was more than a reason to violate existing law. Joe Lopano (head of TPA) had a long range plan to soak the public and make a GIANT BONUS for himself. I wonder why he was fired in New York and flamed out in Dallas? Just wondering. The Tampa Bay Business Journal confirmed this fact the other day on their website. I knew he was corrupt and this proves it. Lopano stated that reason he let Uber and Lyft into the airport (violating the contract he had with the taxi companies) is he wanted to provide transportation alternatives to the traveling public. Angel The Rescued Kitten

I have a new and wonderful friend. Her name is Angel. George found her on his way home at 3 in the morning running around on the elevated span of highway 19 in Clearwater. He pulled over and pulled out of a storm drain. He took her home and knocked on my door. He has two cats and wanted me to keep her overnight until he could find a neighbor to take her. I fell in love with her. She is now my best friend and keeps me company for I live alone. It's not fair that so much cuteness can be crammed into such a little thing.
