The only thing that matters

Swimming is the only thing that matters to me anymore. Today was the 90 day mark of my cardio campaign to rrestore my health.  My aerobic ability is skyrocketing and I have lost 7.5 lbs. That belies the fact that I have also gained muscle mass. I MUST DO THIS. It is keeping me alive. What is barely keeping me alive is the taxi business.

Uber and Lyft have taken 90% of our top business. They have left us with poor people in the bad part of town, who call us to go to the corner store and the laundry mat. The fares are a few dollars with little tip. Only the medical charges and the airport keep me going.

I have $34 in my wallet. That is my net worth. The economic recession took from me. My expenses have gone up ( my lease is $100 a day and I have to buy the gas.) I waited years for things to get better. Now, Uber and Lyft are the final nail in a dying industry.

It seems technology has changed the nature of work. Other industries have gone...pay phones, book stores, video rental, to name a few. This revolution happened fast. We were caught flat footed.

I know I'm going to be evicted, and will soon be on the streets. No matter what, I need my health. I can't wait until tomorrow because the weather will be good and I can go swimming.

  1. F it. Can't you lease a car for about $350 a month and just become a lyft or uber hack ? Yes, you aren't supposed to use a lease car for commercial use but so what. Then your lease is only 350 a month plus some level of insurance, maybe 150. That is only what you pay for 5 days of cab lease now. You'd not put miles on the car unless you are hauling someone. Plus you could keep your regular customers. I know a guy who got a lease on a car with no job and crappy credit. As long as you make the car lease payments, they don't care. You already have a cell phone, that is all uber needs.

Angel The Rescued Kitten

I have a new and wonderful friend. Her name is Angel. George found her on his way home at 3 in the morning running around on the elevated span of highway 19 in Clearwater. He pulled over and pulled out of a storm drain. He took her home and knocked on my door. He has two cats and wanted me to keep her overnight until he could find a neighbor to take her. I fell in love with her. She is now my best friend and keeps me company for I live alone. It's not fair that so much cuteness can be crammed into such a little thing.

Fog and lower gas prices

Gas is coming down Foggy this morning at the gas station. I got here every morning for my coffee. World demand for oil is dropping and there could be no better Christmas present. People are still surprised to hear taxi drivers buy their own gas.

Houston UBER DRIVER ARRESTED for rape

Duncan Burton served 14 years for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine, according to court records and the U.S. Bureau of Prisons. He was convicted by a jury in Houston and served time in Beaumont, Louisiana and Georgia before being released in 2012, according to the federal prison agency. Although sentenced originally to 18 years, he had earned nearly three years of good conduct time and had about two years of jail time. Burton, 57, was arrested Wednesday and charged with one count of sexual assault, a second-degree felony. If convicted, Burton faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. He remains in the Harris County Jail without bail. Someone with a negotiated drug conviction on his or her record would not be eligible for a city-issued permit, ...

The job is almost fun again

The last five years have been brutal. The economic collapse left service workers in Tampa in destitution. I only wish the people responsible for this to die horrible, painful deaths. No amount of pain would be enough for those greedy bastards. Ten percent of my life down the fucking tube. No Arizona, no days off, no money, wearing dirty cloths, eating shit out of the toilet (you get used to it after a while). Anyway, the business is clearly getting better as this holiday season has been active for the first time since 2007. You understand that?..2007. I only hope this is not an illusion.

Get in - Get Confident (2010)

I went to SUPER CUTS in Tampa today. The commercial shows guys getting a new look and then going out and kicking some serious ass at MMF, a casino and extreme sports. I can't wait. You can see the before and after below. AFTER THE WILDMAN

Rays Baseball and two bogus tickets

There is nothing like getting free tickets to a Tampa Bay Rays baseball game. These are not just tickets, but Boston Redsox vsTampa Bay Rays tickets. In fact, they are too the Whitney Bank Club high price seating. This is where the fat cats and the bigwigs go to watch a game. These $175 tickets include free buffet style food and free booze. There is prime rib, shrimp, lasagna, and everything you could dream of. The wait staff serves your every need, and we Tom and I had tickets. My best taxi driver friend Tom Castros took a high-roller to the airport this morning and they businessman said he had the tickets, but his plans had changed and he wanted to just give Tom the tickets for the $25 fare. Tom took them in a heartbeat and called me on my cellphone. I said "hell ya! Lets go!" The game was set for a 4:15 start and we were both hungry. Free drink and food...I'm all over it! We would soon be surrounded by beautiful women and the rich and powerful in the Tampa Bay area...

A viscous cycle for the mentality ill

Yget his shit back You can see the swanky joint This poor guy was trying to get his stuff back from one of the run down motels on east Hillsborough ave Tampa. This place was a dump. He had been taken away by the cops a few nights ago after he went on a drunk, drugs, and hooked binge. He gets a crazy check the first of the month and blows it fast. Now, he will spend the rest of the month out on the streets. He has been doing this fir years. People say they care, but do they? From what I have seen there must be millions like him. The problem is they make poor decisions that keep them down. He said he would take real help if he could get it. He did pay me with the last little bit of money he had. He walked off after getting his stuff back and has no idea what he will do.

Eastern Standard Time

As Yogi once said, "it gets light early here." It sure was this morning. Of course we had the usual number of people putting in time calls and the cab getting there an hour early. People still go by the wall clock. Watches are not needed now, but look at your cell phone. You can see downtown Tampa here around seven this morning. posted from Bloggeroid

Was the Jets Colts Superbowl fixed?

The Colts run the flea flicker and Earl Morrall missed a wide open Jimmy Ore for a certain TD Bubba Smith said to his dying day that the 1969 Superbowl was fixed and he believed players and the coach were in on it. The key was the play of Earl Morrall. The Colt QB threw three red zone interceptions and missed a wide open Jimmy Ore on a flea flicker pass to end the first half. Coach Don Shula waited until six minutes were left in the game to put in Johnny Unitas. This was when the Jets were leading 16-0, and with no two point conversion, the Colts would have to score three times in a tight time frame. Why would they throw the game? Simple, the league wanted this to happen. The Superbowl was not the event it is today. The game kicked off at 3:30 pm similar to most normal NFL games. The NFL needed to make credible the AFL which they had merged with. A New York win would create a mythology about the game and propel Joe Namath to super stardom. The league could see the billions ar...

EVIDENCE and CRYPTID FOSSILS in Central Florida

I went back home to Mulberry Florida and went to the Mulberry Phosphate History Museum. It is only about 3 miles from the old family home but never went there. When I was younger, I was not so interested in these matters.
