National Taxi strike called for October 26, 2014 against Uber & Lyft

Following the crowd is the opposite of the Uber Man...They want your mind...don't let them have it!
There is more at stake then a ride to work. The battle for man's mind has begun. The Internet has made many things possible and reacting with incomplete information has had a debilitating effect on peoples behaviour and mental acuity. The ability to assess facts accurately has been diminished. When wide swaths of hipsters chose to use a ride share company because it has a slick app, without considering the consequences to society, then harm is being done. Back in the dark ages, villagers and townspeople would often react to a rumor and then take action swiftly to bring justice upon the presumed guilty party without waiting for the authorities to resolve it. Social media is controlling people and creating the modern ant hill that Nietzsche's Uber Man stood against. If you want to be progressive, consider all facts. In fact, we will make the hipsters consider them.

On October 26, 2014 there will be a nationwide taxi work stoppage. It will last from Sunday 6:00 AM until Monday 6:00 AM. No airports, NFL Football games, cruise ships, tourist attractions, and poor people without apps (the people Uber and Lyft ignore) will be served. Thousands of people will be stranded. Welcome to the herd.

The local politicians will then see how important taxi cabs are to modern societies. The logistics just don't work without us. We do follow the law. It is time everyone else does.

    IMHO, instead going on 24 hrs strike, they should dump 10-20 cabs on approach to Tampa airport at 7 am, so it is completely blocked off, get drivers out of there, so they can not be charged with any criminal behaviour and call CNN or other independent media to cover the story, how Uber and Lyft are twisting local laws, paying off politicians and lying to the public.

      dream on, the taxi bosses are not gonna go for it , they want their freaking lease money, no matter what, even if you have to rob the bank or uber drivers ;)

      I like the idea of blocking the approach into the airport. Must have mediavready to go live. Same at cruise terminal.

      thing like this, would have to be well organized, with spokesperson explaining to media what is going on, a lawyer to defend taxi companies and taxi drivers against possible legal repercussions, some union organization for advice, etc.

Saturday night in Tampa

I thought I was a dirty old man. "The Senator' takes the cake because he is real (friend of the taxi man), 58 years old, and gets massive ass. He is a legend at the Castle in Ybor City, and in Tampa pop culture. Pop for his hard-on he sports in the clubs. I was going to say it takes balls to do what he does, but balls it is. Pam Callahan Nature Preserve

I took a hike today in Pam Callahan Memorial Park and enjoyed this cool air. She was an environmental advocate who fought to protect this nature preserve from development. If you have a couple hours you can have a relaxing hike, and explore the new loop trail. What's cool is you will never know you are so close to civilization. I had fun.

Las Vegas Taxi Shots

My new blog about Vegas taxi There is a rule of the jungle "adapt or perish." I try to live by that in how I approach taxi driving. Dynamics change and you must be attuned to that and work in different ways. Uber presents something, however, that I can't adjust to. They have taken just too much from us. I don't know if I want to continue living in Tampa now. In the service industry, you can only make real money four months out of the year. The good news is today is the beginning of that four month run. The airport will be my only hope. I don't have it in me to keep going on after that, especially in the face of Uber. The Taxi Driver who found Bigfoot (Documentary Film)

It seems that I may have been the only person in recent years that has actually found Bigfoot. I am a cab driver and this short documentary is about what I go thru and what I have been doing long before the Animal Planet "Finding Bigfoot" was on TV. They consider me a maverick but screw 'em.

Camp the next day

At night I stoked the fire to get it going. Teri and Kevin had to leave and it was George and I for the night. What I did not know was the raccoons would raid our camp in the middle of the night. They had raided the trash and even bit open the Irish tea. I guess the decided it was not food and abandoned it on the camp perimeter. I hate those bastards. I was able to salvage some tea and boiled water with the only pan I had. I prefer instant coffee but the tea had enough caffeine to do the trick. Another tradition is a nice photo of an early morning campfire. Its not camping if you don't get the smoke going early. I was also able, before I left, to walk down by the river and found the canoe launch. That is something we need to do more of. Anyway, this is the sign at the entry to Hillsborough River State Park which could be your gateway to a nice camping adventure. We were at campsite ,,#27 which I recommend.
