National Taxi strike called for October 26, 2014 against Uber & Lyft

Following the crowd is the opposite of the Uber Man...They want your mind...don't let them have it!
There is more at stake then a ride to work. The battle for man's mind has begun. The Internet has made many things possible and reacting with incomplete information has had a debilitating effect on peoples behaviour and mental acuity. The ability to assess facts accurately has been diminished. When wide swaths of hipsters chose to use a ride share company because it has a slick app, without considering the consequences to society, then harm is being done. Ignoring that modern society is structured by law - they proceed anyway. This course must be redirected
Back in the dark ages, villagers and townspeople would often react to a rumor and then take action swiftly to bring justice upon the presumed guilty party without waiting for the authorities to resolve it. Social media is controlling people and creating the modern ant hill that Nietzsche's Uber Man stood against. If you want to be progressive, consider all facts. In fact, we will make the hipsters consider them.

On October 26, 2014 there will be a nationwide taxi work stoppage. It will last from Sunday 6:00 AM until Monday 6:00 AM. No airports, NFL Football games, cruise ships, tourist attractions, and poor people without apps (the people Uber and Lyft ignore) will be served. Thousands of people will be stranded. Welcome to the herd.

The local politicians will then see how important taxi cabs are to modern societies. The logistics just don't work without us. We do follow the law. It is time everyone else does.

    IMHO, instead going on 24 hrs strike, they should dump 10-20 cabs on approach to Tampa airport at 7 am, so it is completely blocked off, get drivers out of there, so they can not be charged with any criminal behaviour and call CNN or other independent media to cover the story, how Uber and Lyft are twisting local laws, paying off politicians and lying to the public.

      dream on, the taxi bosses are not gonna go for it , they want their freaking lease money, no matter what, even if you have to rob the bank or uber drivers ;)

      I like the idea of blocking the approach into the airport. Must have mediavready to go live. Same at cruise terminal.

      thing like this, would have to be well organized, with spokesperson explaining to media what is going on, a lawyer to defend taxi companies and taxi drivers against possible legal repercussions, some union organization for advice, etc.

Happy Hillary Halloween

Is there anything scarier than Hillary. Some would say Donald Trump, perhaps. My friend set this up on his porch and I thought it was pretty cool. It's not really a political statement, it's just trying to show humor. Keep in mind, that we do live in an era where people seem to have lost their sense of humor. Pam Callahan Nature Preserve

I took a hike today in Pam Callahan Memorial Park and enjoyed this cool air. She was an environmental advocate who fought to protect this nature preserve from development. If you have a couple hours you can have a relaxing hike, and explore the new loop trail. What's cool is you will never know you are so close to civilization. I had fun.

Joe Lopano forces Uber impact fees at Tampa International Airport which is highway robbery

I don't like being robbed at Tampa  International Airport The real reason Joseph W. Lopano let Uber and Lyft into TPA was he projected an increase in fees collected to be 5.2 million in the next two years. He seemed to view this as a revenue generating opportunity when the taxi companies were only able to come up with about 1.2 million a year. This was more than a reason to violate existing law. Joe Lopano (head of TPA) had a long range plan to soak the public and make a GIANT BONUS for himself. I wonder why he was fired in New York and flamed out in Dallas? Just wondering. The Tampa Bay Business Journal confirmed this fact the other day on their website. I knew he was corrupt and this proves it. Lopano stated that reason he let Uber and Lyft into the airport (violating the contract he had with the taxi companies) is he wanted to provide transportation alternatives to the traveling public. Gas keeps dropping

How low can you go! Lets hope as China and Russia use less oil because their economies are in recession, that we can finally catch a break. Gas has been ver high during the Obama administration. The Taxi Truman Show

I may have found the escape hatch Regulated Taxi driving is now dead. Uber has taken over. The current situation is no longer tenable for drivers who face an old model of cab leasing, and can no longer continue paying a Pre-Uber lease. Today was the tipping point. This time of year we should be very busy...EXTREMLY BUSY. We are not. It is dead as a doornail with drivers at the airport waiting up to 5 hours to a ride. It should be off the hook. It is for Uber. They pay no fee to the airport, yet they are allowed to operate. I made a good living for years. Transportation was regulated in Hillsborough County.
