Tim Now Drives for LYFT...and loving it!

After 24 years of driving taxi for United Cab of Tampa, I am now driving for LYFT. Good call, I think. Ride share has taken over and the taxi companies are going the way of the pay phone and the corner video store.

Documenatary of Ft Desoto Ghost Investigation

This documentary was with George and Kevin of Enigmatic Anomalies. They are dedicated paranormal researchers and it was a fun day. They place is creepy as hell and its hard to not think there is some presence here. The software we were using seemed to support that fact.

Island time

The sun sets every night For years I lived on Island time. That is why I became a cab driver. I did not want to punch a time clock. I wanted to forge my own way, and come and go as I pleased. Things have changed and I've had to reorganize my life so I am sort of getting a weekly pay check. The major reason for this is Uber. They have cherry picked all the good business and left us with poor people at laundry mats and grocery stores, going around the corner for 3-4 dollars. You can't make it on that. When I was a real cab driver, each day was an adventure. I got to pick up all kinds of people and see the world thru their eyes. It was actually fun. When I was in the newspaper business, I had to arrive when they wanted me to. I had to work the days they made me work. I could only make the income they dictated I would make. I was actually glad when my department was downsized out of existence for I could now take off in the direction I was meant to go. Since I knew I wanted...

The historical ghost investigation at Fort Desoto

Conditions were miserable in 1898 when this fort was constructed. Disease and food shortages were common. Yellow fever was prevalent along the Gulf coast and mosquito's were in the millions on this island. Many of the men must of succomed to the factors found in living here. It is our belief that energy is still in the fort from long ago. That was the objective of this operation. George and Kevin unloading their equipment In May, 1980 the Skyway Bridge collapsed after being struck by the tanker the Summit Venture. The main span fell into the water and 37 people lost their lives. A temporay morgue was set up in the magazine hold of the fort. That is were we were going to concentrate our efforts. Other paranormal groups have reported strange things going on in there. The magazine at the fort We went in as the sun was begining to set. We almost immediatly got a reading on the Ghost radar of words that were very approprate for the setting. We had been speculating how the soi...

Leave the snow and party at Clearwater Beach for some fun

Working on her sun tan on Clearwater Beach Come down to Clearwater Beach in the Tampa Bay area for some fun in the sun. While you are shoveling snow up north, you could be working on your tan - like these girls. Bring you golf clubs and your bathing suit. Clear blue skies and mid 70's await you. You just might mingle with these hot bikini babes. For sure if you go to Hogan's Beach Club. That is where all the hot people are hanging out.  Don't forget to ride in a legal taxi cab and not the illegal Uber or Lyft

A ride to Mediera Beach in a clean cab

Fate had it that the guy at the airport wanting a ride to the cellphone lot, balked at the $15 minimum. Good. The next walk up wanted to go to the Gulf beaches. It was a nice ride out and after dropping them off, I hit a beach access. You just got to smell the roses sometimes. The west coast of Florida has some of the finest beaches in the world. This summer (our off season) we are getting a steady run of fares that are going to the beaches. That is good. What is not good is people continue to dirty our cabs. When I got back to the car I found a package of Sasquatch beef jerky on the backseat floor, and crumbs of jerky spread around. People have an impression that cabs are dirty. They would be cleaner if people stopped messing them up. posted from Bloggeroid

Welcome to Cypress Point Park

There is a nice little beach park on the extreme west end of Cypress Boulevard in Tampa. There is actually a beach with sand dunes. Those things you don't often see in Florida. I was dropping off a fare at the office center near Reno and Cypress, and pulled in here to take a little nap. It was very quit and peaceful and I really don't know if I had ever been here before. After a little nap, I even took a walk on the beach. I did notice some guys out fishing. The beach is not in the best of shape, but there is an awesome view of Tampa Bay. Bring a towel or blanket for the beach does have sea weed on it. The park is on the direct flight line to Tampa International Airport and they will fly overhead by only a few hundred feet.

Don't leave your cell phone in the taxi

This photo demonstrates that there is no excuse for losing your cell phone in a public taxi cab. I was out on Clearwater beach recently and they were having a bikini contest at Sheppard's Beach Resort and I thought I would check it out. I could not believe all the semi-nude women that were walking around, and all of them had cell phones! This young lady in a black string bikini had a unique way of holding on to her phone (note the front of her bikini bottom). The reason I mention this is that people often lose their phones in the taxi cabs. That creates a problem for the driver because we have to waste time returning the phone and people don't always give us a tip, so, we lose a fare. All cab drivers have this problem with phones. If we do return a phone, please understand that we have just missed a call and take care of us. Now people, you can see there is no excuse for not having your phone on your person when you exit the taxi cab. Just leave some plastic gloves so w...
