The image below is a 2005 TBT article I still have about the Tampa blogger scene. The big boy was Tommy Duncan. He stopped blogging around 2008, and was never seen again. Here is what Creative Loafing said about that era: "The 40-something blogger founded the most-often-cited independent Tampa Bay news blog, Sticks of Fire, in Feb. 2004, and the site, without much financial assistance from advertising, is still going strong today with a stable of more than a dozen regular contributors. I have a new and wonderful friend. Her name is Angel. George found her on his way home at 3 in the morning running around on the elevated span of highway 19 in Clearwater. He pulled over and pulled out of a storm drain. He took her home and knocked on my door. He has two cats and wanted me to keep her overnight until he could find a neighbor to take her. I fell in love with her. She is now my best friend and keeps me company for I live alone. It's not fair that so much cuteness can be crammed into such a little thing.

Duncan Burton served 14 years for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine, according to court records and the U.S. Bureau of Prisons. He was convicted by a jury in Houston and served time in Beaumont, Louisiana and Georgia before being released in 2012, according to the federal prison agency. Although sentenced originally to 18 years, he had earned nearly three years of good conduct time and had about two years of jail time. Burton, 57, was arrested Wednesday and charged with one count of sexual assault, a second-degree felony. If convicted, Burton faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. He remains in the Harris County Jail without bail. Uber spokeswoman Debbee Hancock said Monday that Burton passed the company's background checks. She could not immediately be reached Tuesday to respond to the disclosure of Burton's drug conviction. The last five years have been brutal. The economic collapse left service workers in Tampa in destitution. I only wish the people responsible for this to die horrible, painful deaths. No amount of pain would be enough for those greedy bastards. Ten percent of my life down the fucking tube. No Arizona, no days off, no money, wearing dirty cloths, eating shit out of the toilet (you get used to it after a while). Anyway, the business is clearly getting better as this holiday season has been active for the first time since 2007. You understand that?..2007. I only hope this is not an illusion.

Bad news. Jacamino was willing to sir on a call for two hours waiting for it to come out. We call that sand bagging. I call it "a shit ticket." It is raining 24 hours a day in Tampa. Many of the roads are flooded and it will be with us a while. The storms have actually been around for almost three weeks. This is why I have only been able to get in only two workouts in the last 20 days. Don't get me wrong. It has been good for business (we get busy when it rains) but I need to swim. My health is on the line and I need to get back to it. We do live in the sub-tropics, so rain in the summer is no surprise. posted from Bloggeroid

I see this all day long. Before I get the cab in gear, people are on their smartphone. Its sad. When I look in the rearview mirror five seconds after they get in my cab, they are looking down. That's what gets me about Uber. People claim they have these engaging conversations with the Uber driver. The driver is their friend. They claim they talk about British military history, the economic impact of the second Punic War on western civilization. The Uber ride is peppered with discussions about Plato and his allegorical theory about epistemology, and its current impact on competitive hypothesis theory. Oh yea! Taxi riders are on their smart phones within seconds! The driver is INVISIBLE to them. They don't talk to the driver. There was a time when people actually did have conversation. And you did not need Uber for that to happen. The smartphone look down is rude as shit. Are you people fucking addicted? Do you need to go to Betty Ford and get your addiction under control?...

ReplyDeleteNot my place that I want to get 'cleansed' the one right next to mine on the south side...the girl that lived there hanged herself a couple of years ago. Since all these units have basically the same floor plans(I am the dude that lives in the same complex as you) you will be familiar with that big beam over the entrance way to the kitchen area...she put a rope around it stood up in a chair and jumped off. I was home at the time and actually heard the thud...but I had no idea what it was of course. I just remember getting a very bad feeling....anyhow the body wasn't discovered until it started stinking a couple of days later...I thought the oder was from the jungle area just west of the fence where a creek runs through...thought it was a dead animal. Finally a neighbor who had not seen her in a couple of days axed Jim da maintance man to check on her...he opened the door and closed it very quickly..I was observing him...he didnt say a thing ...just went directly to the office and called the police.
Very sad case..the girls mom had died and she also had injured herself at work etc.etc. her boyfriend had dropped her and so on and so forth. A young girl she was...which makes it even worse. I didn't know her well...had only talked to her a few times...but something like that hits you hard.
Another girl moved in there...but I do not think she knows what happened and I do not want to tell her...since she is a nice girl...she might move out. But i kinda feel in a way I should tell her..I mean if it was me I would want someone to tell me...but perhaps its best not to know...I mean most people that live in condos or any kind of housing for that matter rarely knows who else has lived there or what has transpired before you moved in.
Maybe George could chase away the evil spirts from a distance like just circling around...maybe circle around this whole section and chase all the evil spirts out of this neck of the woods...kinda like a mass ghost busting, cleansing and chasing sort of thing....chase all of them outta here. I wonder if that is possible?
I think I will get some holy water and burn some herbs...could not hurt. Maybe sprinkle some on her front porch when she is not home and on her back door step....and all over my unit in case some of them came through the walls and set up shop in here...wouldnt be hard for them to do, I would think...especially since I live wid a crazy woman anyhow. hehheh
